Billy Fletcher’s mystery phone caller has Emmerdale got plenty of people talking.
Emmerdale viewers are now speculating that Billy Fletcher, portrayed by Jay Kontzle, might be collaborating with a past Dales character as his secret life starts to unravel.
With Billy’s family under financial pressure, and his wife Dawn (Olivia Bromley) fully focused on caring for their ill son Evan, who has leukaemia, Billy’s actions have become increasingly suspicious.
Dawn recently discovered a large sum of cash, and Billy swiftly lied to cover it up, a lie she accepted. But during the episode on Wednesday (October 9), Billy’s hidden activities were revealed.
Even though Evan was released from the hospital, Billy’s focus seemed to be elsewhere. Leeds Live reports that Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) found Billy injured and bleeding, with a severe wound on his side.
However, Billy refused medical help, confessing he had been fighting in an underground boxing ring.
Mack quickly called on John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth), who patched up Billy’s injury but strongly cautioned him that continuing with underground fighting could prove deadly.
When Billy returned home, Dawn was visibly concerned by his injuries, but Billy brushed it off by claiming he’d been hurt in a Boxercise class and apologized. As she left to care for their son Evan, now recovering at home, Billy’s phone rang. On the other end of the line, a mysterious woman asked if he was ready for another fight the following week, offering double the money as an incentive.
This cryptic phone call has sparked a wave of speculation among Emmerdale fans. Many are buzzing with theories online, suggesting that a familiar face from the past could be orchestrating Billy’s secret fights, setting the stage for a potential comeback of a former Dales legend.
One viewer speculated on a Reddit thread, writing: “Why does the voicemail at the end sound a bit like a certain someone?” They continued, suggesting, “Could just be nothing, but it sounds like Tina, doesn’t it?”
This theory gained traction among other fans, with one chiming in: “It really does sound like her. If they bring her back, there’s an obvious reason for it coming up soon, no need for a side plot, but this is a soap after all.” A third echoed the sentiment: “Why does the voicemail at the end sound like Tina?”
Tina Dingle, played by Jacqueline Chadwick, first appeared in Emmerdale in 1994 as Zak Dingle’s only daughter. Despite being a prominent character, she has been off-screen for nearly three decades, with her last appearance in December 1996. Fans are now wondering if this could mark her dramatic return to the Dales.
