Daisy Campbell, who portrayed Amelia Spencer on Emmerdale, might be set for a new chapter in her career after her unexpected exit from the ITV soap.
Having been with the show since 2011, Daisy became a well-known face through her portrayal of Amelia, who has been at the heart of many dramatic storylines. Currently, her character is involved in a tense plotline with the villainous Tom King (James Chase), who previously abused his wife, Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper). However, in a surprising twist last October, Emmerdale producers decided to write Amelia out, a decision that left Daisy, 21, shocked. She shared “It wasn’t my choice to leave Emmerdale and it was a shock at first.”
Daisy also revealed how difficult the transition has been, saying, “Being in Emmerdale is all I’ve ever known. I’ve spent my whole childhood growing up in the soap, and it felt daunting.” However, she confirmed that Amelia will not meet a tragic end, adding, “I’m pleased the door is being left open. But I can’t say too much about how she leaves.”
PR expert Dom Aldworth, Head of Brand Marketing at Slingo, believes this exit could open up an exciting next chapter for Daisy’s career, possibly in another British soap. He pointed to Hollyoaks as a great fit, noting its youthful nature and high-energy storylines, which would allow Daisy to explore edgier, more complex roles. He also mentioned Coronation Street as a potential option, where Daisy could join a well-known family or bring new drama to the iconic cobbles.
Dom didn’t rule out the possibility of Daisy moving beyond soaps, suggesting she could branch out into drama series or theatre to showcase different aspects of her talent. He added, “She could even bring her intensity to EastEnders, where she could explore more hard-hitting social issues and emotional narratives.” Fans will be watching closely to see where her career goes next.
