Neighbours launched its newest season with a bang, with huge twists, big returns and a storm catastrophe.
Terese Robinson’s (Rebekah Elmaloglou) near-death experience set the tone for the rest of the year, with some intriguing developments in the mystery Glenn Donnelly story.
Meanwhile, the arrival of Amy Greenwood’s (Jacinta Stapleton) daughter Zara Selwyn (Freya Van Dyke) created havoc in her relationships with Ned Willis (Ben Hall) and Levi Canning (Richie Morris).
However, the most significant changes in the Channel 5 drama saw Roxy Willis’ (Zima Anderson) and Kyle Canning’s (Chris Milligan) wedding day – as happy as it was – end in full and utter disaster, as a storm disrupted the festivities.
Oh yes, and someone died as a result!
The long-running serial drama really has upped the ante, but with the fallout of this week’s events set to have huge ramifications, it’s safe to say that it’s only just the beginning of what’s to come in 2022.

The aftermath of a tragic death
Roxy and Kyle’s wedding was a genuinely memorable and community-centered occasion. However, things took a tragic turn when a storm raged down hell, putting the lives of many of the mainstays in jeopardy.
While Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis) was hurt in the accident, it was Britney Barnes (Montana Cox) who died as a result of it.
In the ensuing scenes, Leo Tanaka (Tim Kano) will isolate himself from the people closest to him as he fights to come to grips with what happened.
Despite everyone’s advice to the contrary, he intends to sue the hotel for what happened. Even though he knows it won’t bring Britney back, he knows who is to blame and will hold them accountable.
Will he succeed? Or will he allow himself the time needed to grieve?
The arrival of ‘complex’ Freya Wozniak
It was revealed last year that Lie With Me star Phoebe Roberts had joined the cast of Neighbours as newcomer Freya.
‘We were all blown away by Phoebe’s performance in Lie With Me and felt Ramsay Street had to be her next stop,’ Jason Herbison, Neighbours and Lie With Me Executive Producer, stated at the time.
‘For her, we’ve built a fascinating character who is complex, intriguing, and a risk taker; she’ll be a lot of fun, and Phoebe has already nailed the job.’
Freya is bound to make an impression, and she gets along swimmingly with Levi, who recently ended his relationship with Amy.
But it soon becomes apparent that she has ulterior motives. The question is what is she up to?
Neighbours comes to London, with guest appearances from Amanda Holden and Sophie Ellis-Bextor
Harlow Robinson (Jemma Donovan) is planning a trip to London later this year to meet up with her aunt Harriet (Amanda Holden).
Harlow’s mother and Harriet’s late sister Prue, who was played by Denise van Outen, will be at the center of a family mystery.
Amanda, a judge on Britain’s Got Talent, will not be the only guest star in the tale; Sophie Ellis-Bextor will also appear.
Harlow, you see, is caught aback when the Murder on the Dancefloor singer and Strictly Come Dancing judge offers some wise words on her late mother Prue’s deeds.
But what will they find out?
Zara’s troublesome behaviour
Zara’s behaviour has left both the residents of Ramsay Street and the viewers at home totally unimpressed, but things are set to get much worse, as she starts at Erinsborough High.
In following scenes, she has a falling out with her mother Amy, and things take a tragic turn when she pushes her.
Amy appears to be unaffected by the altercation at first.
However, she is suddenly overtaken with discomfort. Zara, on the other hand, instead of assisting her mother, walks away rudely!
Amy passes out, unable to breathe or act in any way to help herself. Ned locates her in time and gets her to the hospital, but things do not appear to be going well.
Will Amy pull through? And will this prove to be the wake-up call Zara needs?
Kyle and Roxy’s future
Kyle was shocked to learn that he had cancer last year, and subsequent scenes showed him and Roxy deciding to marry, vowing to spend the rest of their lives together.
The ceremony proceeded on as planned, with the couple saying “I do” smoothly. What remains to be seen is what the future holds for them.
We simply don’t know what the future holds. The couple’s honeymoon, on the other hand, is scheduled for the near future.
Kyle adds more testosterone patches to his body so he can perform better in the bedroom, but things don’t go as planned.
Glen Donnelly’s next move
Fans were overjoyed to see Glen return to Ramsay Street, and it’s safe to say that the renowned character wasted no time in making his presence known.
But his reasons have been shrouded in mystery, with his ties to Terese generating issues for a number of Ramsay Street’s best, including Paul!
But what does the future hold for Glen? Will he get up to any more mischief?
He finally confessed to stealing Therese’s ring. Terese was stunned, and Paul demanded that he leave the Eirinsborough in the rearview mirror.
Will Paul get his wish? That seems unlikely somehow, which begs the question of what Glen will do now?
We’ll just have to wait and see!
