After suffering a horrific accident while playing football, Tim Robards has got support from his old Neighbours co-stars.
The actor, who played Pierce Greyson from 1998 to 2020, posted a number of images from his hospital bed on Instagram, including two selfies in a medical gown and one of his broken leg.
The actor stated that he had to have a muscle reattached following the injury, which occurred while he was “dashing down the football field in spectacular full flight.”
“A part of me that had been a part of me for 39 years was no longer… a part of me,” he wrote. “So long story short, I had to have that muscle reattached (rec fem) so I can walk/run again properly.
“I’m normally really good with my warm-ups but this time life got in the way, and a few rushed leg swings and high knees just didn’t cut it (note to future self).
“So now it’s crutches and a leg brace for me for the next month or so whilst I rehab and get in the best shape of my life approaching 40.”
The star also thanked the “wonderful” medical team who have “put me back together”.
Several of Tim’s former Neighbours co-stars have sent him best wishes, including Ben Turland, who plays Pierce’s on-screen son Hendrix Greyson, who wrote: “Jeez!! “Good luck with your recovery, brother,” Tim replied, adding, “thanks son” and “Daddy will see you soon when he’s better.”
“Ahhhh that sucks but pleased you’re ok xxx sending our best!” said Sharon Johal, who played Pierce’s love interest Dipi Rebecchi. “Hoping for a quick recovery, pal!” tweeted David Tanaka star Takaya Honda.
Tim later disclosed that he has already returned to the gym, captioning a photo of himself in training clothes, “Realized I still have two arms and one healthy leg… Slow and steady progress, but forward progress, not backward progress…
“To be honest, I love my couch at night with some Netflix but can only take so much during the day!”
Tim’s character Pierce married Chloe Brennan (April Rose Pengilly) before having an affair with Dipi, and he also had a tumultuous relationship with son Hendrix during his time on Neighbours.
When the COVID-19 epidemic forced travel restrictions, the actor left his role a month earlier than anticipated, opting to fly home to Sydney ahead of the birth of his first child with wife Anna Heinrich.
In order for Pierce’s final sequences to be filmed, he was recast, with actor Don Hany briefly taking over the part before Pierce’s exit.
