Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) is heartbroken next week in EastEnders as he learns that his wife, Kat (Jessie Wallace), has rekindled her relationship with her ex-husband, Alfie Moon (Shane Richie).
The couple initially split back in January after Phil’s sister, Sam (Kim Medcalf), revealed his affair with Emma Harding (Patsy Kensit).
The shocking revelation left Kat devastated, prompting her to take her kids and eventually return to living with Alfie.
Kat and Alfie only agreed to share a home again after Kat found herself reluctantly involved with manipulative Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry), who offered her a place to stay while secretly hoping to gain control over Phil’s business.
With Alfie’s support, Kat recognized Nish’s ulterior motives, and the decision to stay with Alfie would allow their family to be together under one roof.
Her eldest, Tommy (Sonny Kendall), struggled with adjusting to life away from Phil and even asked his stepfather if he could stay with him.
Phil refused, but he later grew hopeful when he thought Kat wanted to get back together. Unfortunately, this was yet another one of Tommy’s fibs.
Kat was stunned when Phil expressed his rekindled feelings, and she shut down Tommy’s false claims, leaving Phil deeply disappointed.
In response, Tommy lashed out, punching Kat in the stomach. Later, after she pushed him away in self-defense, he reported her to social services.
Tommy’s behavior continued to deteriorate. Following a night of chaos, where he destroyed the flat, a concerned Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) called social services.
Tommy is now living with foster carer Zack Hudson (James Farrar) until it’s determined that he no longer poses a risk to Kat or his younger brothers, Bert and Ernie.
Seeing the Slater family in turmoil, Alfie arranged a meeting between Kat, Jean, and Stacey (Lacey Turner) and gave an emotional speech to bring everyone together.
Freddie (Bobby Brazier) and Ian (Adam Woodyatt) noticed the spark between Kat and Alfie, though Alfie himself seemed surprised when Kat kissed him.
Next week, Phil’s day goes from bad to worse. After his cousin Teddy (Roland Manookian) makes a poor offer for Peggy’s nightclub, he then learns that Kat and Alfie are officially back together.
But even more importantly, how will Tommy react to this news?
