Terrifying Ordeal for the Barlows as Injured Ken is Rushed to Hospital in Coronation Street

The drama never seems to end for Ken Barlow (William Roache) in Coronation Street.

Earlier in the year, Ken experienced a fall that landed him in the hospital, where doctors informed him he’d need a carer during his recovery. Although hesitant at first, Ken eventually agreed and found himself surprisingly enjoying the company of Cassie Plummer (Claire Sweeney), whom the Barlows had hired to assist him.

In the upcoming episodes, Ken returns from holiday and informs his family that after reviewing his finances, he has decided to let Cassie go. The family feels relieved, but Ken knows he’s in for an uncomfortable talk as he prepares to tell Cassie that her services are no longer required.

Later in the week, however, Ken starts to feel unwell, which makes him question his choice. Realizing he could use the extra help, he offers Cassie an extra pound per hour if she agrees to come back.

Tracy (Kate Ford), along with Adam (Sam Robertson) and Steve (Simon Gregson), demands that Cassie leave, accusing her of taking advantage of Ken, with Tracy insisting that she’ll handle his care herself.

But when Ken suffers an unexpected nosebleed and admits to feeling terrible, his family has no choice but to rush him to the hospital. It’s unclear what might have triggered his sudden illness, though later in the week, Steve takes it upon himself to tell Cassie that her services are no longer needed. Could she have had a role in Ken’s health scare?

Cassie had recently shown a keen interest in Ken’s finances, particularly after overhearing a conversation about his premium bonds. Was she attempting to use Ken’s vulnerability to her advantage? Or could she have been acting out of resentment after being dismissed?
