Before leaving the ITV soap earlier this year, Ellie Leach played Faye Windass in Coronation Street for more than ten years.
The Coronation Street ensemble has committed to work together to support Ellie Leach so that she may go to the Strictly Come Dancing final.
After she was purportedly fired from her role earlier this year, it’s speculated that the ITV soap opera actors want their former coworker to become a major BBC star.
After 12 years of portraying Faye Windass, fans watched as Ellie decided to leave the cobbles because she wanted to seek other chances.
That doesn’t appear to be the case, however, based on a source who said to The Sun executives didn’t see her character’s future in Weatherfield.
They said: “As a ‘f*** you’ to employers, everyone has sworn to do all in their power to get Ellie to the Strictly final.
She was left with no choice because it was made obvious to her earlier this year that they didn’t see a future for her character.
Ellie’s departure, according to the insider, shocked the cast since they believed the actress wasn’t treated fairly.
They went on to say: “They (the cast) want her to become a big BBC star and defy the establishment.”
ITV has been contacted by Express.co.uk for comment.
After her ex-partner Jackson (Joseph Evans) and their daughter Miley (Frankie-Jae Simmonds) returned to Weatherfield, Ellie’s escape plot developed.
She agreed to wed Craig Tinker (Colson Smith), but it was obvious that her heart still belonged to Jackson, so she made the decision to follow him to Slough.
The 22-year-old has returned to television after a brief absence, trading the streets for the dance floor after being revealed as one of the celebrities competing on this season’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The actress tweeted of appearing on the BBC program: “It still doesn’t feel real that I’m going to be doing Strictly!!
“I guess dreams really do come true!!! It’s always been a dream of mine.”
This year, broadcaster Krishnan Guru-Murthy, comedian Eddie Kadi, TV host Angela Scanlon, and content creator Zara McDermott are among those vying for the Glitterball.
Other participants include the actress Amanda Abbington, the radio host Nikita Kanda, the broadcaster Angela Rippon, the paralympic champion Jody Cundy, the actors Bobby Brazier and Nigel Harman from EastEnders, the tennis player Annabel Croft, and the actor Les Dennis.
