Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromley) from Emmerdale has been facing a tough time recently, but actress Olivia has revealed that there’s one surprising aspect of her role that she finds particularly “depressing.”
In a recent interview with Inside Soap, Olivia confessed, “I hate Dawn’s wardrobe with a passion. It depresses me – I can’t lie. I wish she could be as glamorous as Kim Tate (Claire King), but unfortunately, I’m stuck with drab jumpers.”
Despite this, Olivia acknowledged that Dawn’s fashion choices reflect something deeper about her character. “She’s not focused on how she looks,” Olivia explained. She also recalled the iconic “fluffy black coat” Dawn wore for years, admitting, “It’s horrible! She can’t wear that anymore. I’d love for them to put some makeup on me!”
The actress, who joined the ITV soap in 2018, also shared that she would love to see her character take a different direction. “I’ve always thought it would be nice for Dawn to show a different side of herself, maybe by working behind the bar or doing some comedy, perhaps alongside Charity and Chas. That would be a fun change, where she could comment on the action.”
Olivia added with a laugh, “But she’d probably be the grumpiest barmaid!”
Recently, Dawn’s marriage to Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) has been shaken after she discovered he’s involved in illegal underground fighting, a situation made worse by Jade (Twinnie-Lee Moore) threatening their family. Additionally, Dawn and Billy have been coping with the emotional strain of caring for their son Evan, who has been diagnosed with leukaemia.
