Over time, it has been more typical for cast members of Home and Away to have off-screen relationships that keep ardent viewers on the edge of their seats.
While some relationships end in nothing more than a brief affair behind the scenes, Luke Mitchell and Rebecca Breeds, two fan favorites from earlier seasons of Home and Away, have grown to be among the program’s biggest success stories.
One of the most charming love stories to come out of the Bay is that of Luke and Bec, who married and relocated to the US around 15 years after falling in love on set.
On the set of Summer Bay in 2009, the pair fell in love. From 2009 to 2013, Luke, 36, portrayed resident charmer Romeo Smith, and from 2008 to 2012, Rebecca, 34, portrayed Ruby Buckton, a passionate free spirit.
Along with their gorgeous dog Alfie, the golden couple from Summer Bay have relocated to the United States.
Luke once remarked that what made his time on Home and Away “so special” was falling in love with Bec.
“The majority of our relationship was undoubtedly centered around the show.” And after I eventually graduated, we got engaged, got married, and relocated abroad,” he remarked.
Luke acknowledged that after relocating to the US, Bec helped him achieve success on a global scale.
Without Bec, I don’t think I could have accomplished what I have accomplished abroad. In 2019, he said to TV WEEK, “I’m a very lucky guy.”
2009 saw Bec and Luke meet at a housewarming hosted by a mutual friend. At the time, Rebecca was already filming the show on the picturesque Palm beach, while Luke had recently moved to Sydney for his Home and Away role.
It seemed as though I knew him already. Regarding their initial meeting, she had previously stated, “It was definitely a feeling that we had lived another life together.”
After meeting Luke at a mutual friend’s house and falling in love on the set of Home and Away, Bec stated of him, “I knew immediately after the party that what I had with Luke was that soulmate thing.”
The pair wed in a stunning ceremony at NSW’s Kangaroo Valley Bush Retreat in 2013.
In front of seventy of their closest friends and family members, they exchanged heartfelt vows that they had written themselves.
Fear will not lead me; love will. I promise to look out for you, encourage you, respect you, listen to you, and be there for you. and love you totally forever,” Luke wrote to Bec on their wedding vows.
Bec’s wedding vows to Luke said, “I will be your greatest fan and encouragement, holding your hand and cheering you on through everything.”
“I’ll focus on the positive aspects of life. As the head of our family and home, you have my trust and respect. Everything else will take a backseat to our relationship. Together, we will brave the wilds of this world and I will be your haven of love that reaches into the next and beyond.
After months of rumors about their romance, the couple finally admitted they were dating in 2010.
In terms of their relationship and the successful acting roles they have secured since leaving the program, Luke and Bec are among the greatest success stories to come out of Home and Away.
The happy couple has 830,000 Instagram followers in total, and they frequently share romantic photos of themselves.
Earlier this year, Bec shared a romantic selfie of the couple to mark their eighth wedding anniversary. She said, “8 years. The best thing that has ever happened to me is you. Beyond and into the wild. 💫
Reminiscent moment! 2010 saw Bec and Luke attend the WHO “Sexiest People” Party, one year after they announced their relationship to the public.
“It’s Valentine’s Day every day 🎶 💕💕💕 I adore you even more, @lukemitchell17. In honor of Valentine’s Day, Rebecca wrote a note under this old travel photo.
The couple played a round of putt putt golf to commemorate Valentine’s Day.
“A serious game of Putt-Putt says “romance” better than anything else. 😎⛳️ Happy V Day, lovers! ❤️ The photo was captioned by Luke.
Couples who bake together tend to remain together, as demonstrated by Rebecca and Luke!
To start the new year, Luke shared this cute picture on social media.
Making the most of their time apart, the couple recently spent a day at a vineyard in Santa Ynez, California. “Do you not wine?” Luke joked in this post’s caption.
